Learn a few things to help you maintain momentum as a nurse, and discover the importance of RN to BSN online.
Being a nurse requires a genuine desire to help the sick and care for the poor. It is not the most glamorous job in the world and also not the highest paying. A licensed RN (registered nurse) may move on to greater possibilities by taking an RN to BSN online program, which is very helpful if one wishes to gain additional training to better care for people in need.
Nurses are considered heroes. They are almost doctors, but willing to take on the “dirty job”. They are almost just orderlies, but qualified to administer medical care and therapy.
Caring for a sick person is very taxing and trying of one’s patience, and this is more true when caring for someone who is neither a relative nor a friend. A nurse can burn out easily. Below are tips on how to have a more fulfilling career as a nurse and not stress out.
One, be your own nurse, first and foremost. It is true that in order to serve others better, you have to first take good care of yourself. You cannot offer to save people from a sinking ship if you yourself are on that damned ship.
Help yourself, stay health, take your vitamins, get a full sleep every night or make up for lost sleep if on a night shift, and watch what you eat. People and societies have not been as conscious about being healthy, so get into the health and well-being bandwagon. Regularly exercise, dance, jog, do yoga or get into a fitness program.
Two, nurse your heart. Nurture that inert loving-kindness that pushed you to become a nurse in the first place. Love people, cherish relationships and always put your family first.
Your spouse and children are the most important people in your life. Performing a noble task of caring for the sick is not an excuse for you to bypass your own family. Set a special hour of the day and a special day of the week for them.
Engage in charities or get a pet. Man is naturally tweaked to be caring and loving, and unless we keep that flaming in our hearts it could die down. Nursing is a caring profession but be careful not to mistake caring as something you do only professionally.
Three, nurse your mind: technology is changing and progressing very fast and so should you. The instruments and technologies you see in major hospitals are not the same as those that existed a couple of years ago. Even the medical practice and concepts have changed through the years and it is necessary for you to keep up in order to provide the most appropriate kind of care that this modern world requires of you.
It is important to always improve yourself as a career person and skilled worker, because as a nurse you have so many skills to learn and develop. Get into an RN to BSN online program and learn Chemistry, Anatomy, Therapy, Geriatric Care, Pediatric Care and other medical disciplines; RN to BSN programs are also offered in vocational schools and local colleges. Stay updated, check the RN to BSN news regularly and be on the constant lookout for opportunities for development.
